Stewards are MPEA-designated volunteers who respond to:

1. Member issues that may result in a grievance
2. Contract violations

And who attend:

• Discipline meetings with members (such as performance issue meetings, pre-determination and determination meetings)
• Monthly member issues meetings with the MPEA Board

Training, as well as supervision, is provided. Stewards are assigned cases on a rotating basis and are allowed to do this work during their regular work hours. As thanks for their service, members receive a reimbursement of their dues on a quarterly basis.
